He completed high school and two years of philosophy at the seminary in Eger. In 1840, he was ordained a doctor of medicine in Pest and for two and a half years he was an assistant and substitute teacher at the university's medical institute. From 1843 until his death, he was a practicing physician in Miskolc. In 1844, he founded the Miskolc Medical Association. During the War of Independence, he was the chief physician of the 22nd Home Guard Battalion. In his autobiography, published more than 30 years after the War of Independence, he tried in an almost unique way to portray the figures of Lajos Kossuth and Artúr Görgei, their relationship to each other and their opposition, in an unbiased manner. His doctoral dissertation is the first Hungarian work on plant physiology, but it is only a compilation. He also wrote medical articles for contemporary newspapers (Orvosi Tár, Magyar Gazda, Gyógyászat, Fővárosi Lapok), as well as for the Works of the Hungarian Doctors and Naturalists. ; ; His main works: ; The physiology of plants, 1840, ; My life, ideals and forty-seven years of medical practice (autobiography), 1882.
