* Újterebes, April 2, 1845 – † Levoca, October 17, 1934 / geographical writer, high school teacher, Tatra explorer, mountaineer ; ; He graduated from the Hungarian Gymnasium in Levoca in 1864. From 1864 to 1869 he studied linguistics at the University of Vienna, and in 1870 he obtained a geography teacher's diploma in Pest. Initially, he taught in the capital, then returned to Levoca, where he worked as a teacher at the local gymnasium from 1873 to 1918, with interruptions. In addition to his pedagogical work, he promoted and organized tourism in the High Tatras. He himself made several first ascents and was considered an active mountaineer even in his old age. He wrote several tourist guides and edited tourist maps. In 1873, he contributed to the founding of the MKE. He dealt with geology, glaciology, cartography, meteorology and botany with scientific thoroughness. He guided many foreign scientists in the High Tatras. He prepared the plans of the roads (48, 222 km long) and shelters necessary for the complete exploration of the natural beauties of the High Tatras and their access. He also participated in the designation of tourist routes. He wrote travel guides and his educational articles appeared in the newspapers of the time: He published more than 100 articles about the Tatra Mountains. From 1922, he was the head of the Tatra Meteorological Station in Tátraszéplak.
