* Rimaszombat, January 2, 1742 – † Vienna, January 25, 1816 / physician, writer, editor ; ; He began his schooling in Bratislava and Sárospatak, then studied abroad: at universities in Germany and the Netherlands. He earned a doctorate, then settled in Vienna and lived until his death. From 1793 to 1816, he edited the Magyar Kurir and its supplement, the Magyar Muzsa (from 1798 with Dániel Pánczél). He was one of those who worked hard to boost Hungarian cultural life, language, literature and drama. He spent a significant part of his income on supporting literature ; . He wrote works on linguistic, geographical, historical and agricultural subjects. ; ; His main works: ; Osmanografia, i.e. a summary description of the natural, moral, ecclesiastical, civil and military state of the Turkish Empire and its wars against the Hungarian kings I–III., 1788–1789, ; Pannonian Phoenix, or the Hungarian language resurrected from the ashes, 1790, ; Hungarian Almanac, for the years 1794, 1795 and 1796 I–III., 1793–1795, ; Notes on the field economy I–II.
