* Telč, February 16, 1784 – † Bratislava, December 6, 1857 / linguist, prehistorian, teacher ; ; He completed his philosophical and theological studies at the University of Vienna, where he also studied Arabic, then came to Hungary and began to deal with Hungarian linguistics under the guidance of linguist Miklós Révai (1750–1807). From 1806 he taught Greek in Győr, and from 1808 for 42 years at the Bratislava Academy. Within the Indo-European languages, he dealt with the Slavic languages, primarily with the clarification of the Slavic–Greek language relationship. He derived the largest part of the Hungarian vocabulary from Slavic languages. He compiled the etymological dictionary of the Hungarian language by selecting the dictionary material of Ferenc Kresznerics (1766–1832), with many debatable etymologies. He correctly pointed out the Hungarian-Slavic relations before the conquest.
