Czobor (Czibulya) Laszlo

* Gyerk, September 16, 1850 – † Budapest, May 11, 1942 / lawyer, politician, pomologist ; ; He completed his secondary school studies in Selmecbánya and Esztergom, and law at the universities of Pest and Vienna. In 1875 he entered the Hont county service, in 1876 he became the chief civil servant of the Bozók and later Korponai districts, and in 1896 he became the vice-governor of Hont county. In 1906 he was elected a member of parliament and then moved to Budapest. From the 1880s he worked hard for the economic and intellectual development of Hont county, devoting particular attention to the planting of fruit trees and grapes. As early as 1879, he founded the Bozók District Fruit Growing Association and in the following years, with a lot of organizational work, he established about 25 village nurseries. The economy of the region also boomed thanks to fruit growing. Between 1919 and 1932, he was the president of the National Hungarian Horticultural Association. Along with Elemér Pongrácz, he was one of the initiators of the establishment of the Ipolyság city museum. He also played an important role in the development of the region's railway network. In 1927, he published a small collection of stories entitled Honti históriak, in which he collected many interesting facts, personalities and events from Hont County.
