Antal Csicsátka

* Érsekújvár, January 18, 1911 – † Utica, July 9, 1976 / electrical engineer, telecommunications specialist ; ; He earned his electrical engineering degree from the Budapest University of Technology in 1938 and began his career as a development engineer at the Posta Experimental Station. His first significant achievement was the development of carrier frequency systems manufactured by AEG. After 1945, he founded an instrument building and repair workshop, where he renovated damaged equipment and developed new instruments. The company was nationalized in 1949 and from this the Mechanical Laboratory was established, of which he became the technical director. Here he created the first Hungarian-developed tape recorder and began to deal with the issues of stereo transmission and stereo recording. After the suppression of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, he emigrated to the USA, where he became an employee of General Electric. His main task was the development of audio products. It was then that he recognized the operating principle of the subcarrier, two-channel stereo radio and then implemented it in practice, which is why he was referred to in the industry only as "Mr. Audio". He also founded a company to develop and manufacture cable television equipment. Many of his patents are still used in radio broadcasting today.
