Lorinc Csiby

* Ditró, August 6, 1849 – † Selmecbánya, March 23, 1903 / forest engineer, academic teacher ; ; He studied forestry at the Selmecbánya Academy in 1870–1873. In 1874, he entered the state service at the Royal Livestock Directorate in Bánya Biszterce, but later worked as a forest estimator and forest master in many places in the country (Bratislava, Lugos, Orsova, etc.). From 1895 until his death, he was a teacher of forest management at the Selmecbánya Mining and Forestry Academy. His studies were published in the Forestry Journals. His inventions were the implementation of minor ideas serving to facilitate practical geodetic tasks. He was among the first to apply photogrammetry in our country in the field of forestry.
