* Battina, September 29, 1840 – † Selmecbánya, April 10, 1908 / mining engineer, geologist, academic teacher ; ; In 1860–1863 he studied mining and metallurgy at the Selmecbánya Academy. Between 1864–1878 he worked in the treasury mines around Selmecbánya, and between 1878–1908 he was a mining geologist at the Selmecbánya Mining Directorate. Between 1898–1904 he taught at the Department of Mineralogy at the Selmecbánya Academy. His new method, the system of mining geological surveys, was also recognized abroad. He compiled a significant collection of minerals and rocks from the mines and deposits around Selmecbánya. This is today the basis of the material of the Dionýz Štúr Mining Museum in Bánya Selmec.
