Charles Csaky

* Kelenye, October 24, 1950 – / teacher, local historian, ethnographer, writer, poet ; ; He graduated from the Hungarian Gymnasium in Ipolyság (1969), obtained a Hungarian-English diploma from the Pedagogical College in Nyitra (1973), and became a doctor of pedagogy in 1983. He graduated from the ethnography department at the Kossuth Lajos University of Debrecen (1999), and obtained his PhD degree in 2000. He was a teacher at the Hungarian Elementary School in Ipolybalog in 1973–1990, and at the Hungarian Gymnasium in Ipolyság in 1990–1992, and a lecturer at the Hungarian Gymnasium. Between 1992 and 1998, he was the director of the Fegyverneki Ferenc Hungarian-medium Church Primary School in Ipolyság (also a high school from 1995). He is currently a teacher at the Hungarian Church Primary School in Palást. In his works on ethnography, culture and local history, he primarily deals with the cultural history, folk beliefs, folk architecture and folk customs of the Middle Ipoly region. He has also published papers on dialect issues, naming customs and the vocabulary of folk crafts in Slovak Hungarian and Hungarian journals. The number of his published books is nearly 40. He is a member and official of several professional and social organizations (Slovakian Hungarian Writers' Association, Csemadok, Slovak Hungarian Teachers' Association, Hungarian Ethnographic Society, Hungarian Philological Society, etc.).
