* Szomolnok, 20 August 1827 – † Budapest, 24 June 1903 / mathematician, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1864) ; ; He completed his studies in Selmecbánya (1847–1849) and at the Vienna University of Technology (1850–1853), where he studied mathematics and physics. In 1858 he was a teacher at the Markó Street High School in Pest, its deputy director from 1866, its director from 1867–1872, and then from 1872 he was a teacher at the Ludovika Academy. In 1869 he became a private tutor of physics (“higher natural science”) at the University of Pest. He retired in 1897 with the title of royal councilor.
