Farewell salty - Hortobágy

Other - other

In the southern part of the village of Búcs, we find an extremely valuable natural area, the Búcs Salt Flat, which is a geomorphologically characteristic plain. Its original type is the saline pseudo-algae. It belongs to the wet salt flats (saline meadows) habitat type, which were created secondarily from swamps. The soils are characterized by a slightly variable water system throughout the entire cross section. In the vegetation here, we find the valuable sedge (Carex divisia), and this is the only place in Slovakia where the Hungarian palka (Arcorellus pannonicus) is found. ; This is how this area was described a few years ago, but today this plant has unfortunately disappeared from here too. After 1950, the villagers named this place Hortobágy because it resembles the world-famous Hungarian puszta. In the past, the area was used for mowing, during which it was important to maintain regularity and timely mowing, as weeding may occur if it is not done for a long time. ; Today, this protected area is divided by veins and rows of trees. The Búcsi Saline Nature Reserve: belongs to the wetter type of saline soils, salt-loving animal and plant species can be found here. From a botanical point of view, the occurrence of endangered species typical of saline soils is noteworthy. Its characteristic feature is the two heron wells. Various animal and bird species live on the meadow, for example: grey heron, great egret, little egret, fox, roe deer. ; The area was declared protected in 1993, it is a 203,995 m2, geomorphologically characteristic plain. It is under fourth level protection, its supervisory authority is the Duna-liget Landscape Protection District.
