* Szemet, 1852 – † Budapest, December 30, 1926 / literary historian, classical philologist, ; dictionary editor, teacher ; ; He graduated from the Bratislava gymnasium and obtained a Latin-Greek teaching certificate from the Budapest University of Science and Technology in 1879. He began his teaching career as a candidate teacher at the Budapest Secondary School of the Secondary School Teacher Training Institute in 1877. In 1879, he spent one academic year as a substitute teacher at the Trenčín gymnasium, and then between 1879 and 1898, he taught physical education at the Losonc state high school, in addition to his main subjects. In 1898, he was appointed director of the Arad Catholic High School, a position he held until 1921. After his retirement, he lived in Budapest. He became known primarily as the author of Latin language books and textbooks, but his activities as a dictionary writer and text publisher are also significant. He also dealt with the history of education in Arad. He translated several ancient plays into Hungarian. After the Romanian occupation of Arad in 1919, he remained in place and tried to reorganize Hungarian-language education. He even managed to edit and publish the high school yearbook, but in 1921 the Romanian authorities forced him to leave the country. ; ; His main works: ; Latin synonyms.
