* Bratislava, December 24, 1859 – † Budapest, December 1, 1930 / stationmaster, archaeologist, naturalist; ; from 1879 stationmaster in the village of Puj in Hunedoara County. After twenty-five years of railway service, he retired and took a daily wage job as an accountant at the river guard in Bratislava. In 1908, he returned to Transylvania, Petrozsény, as an employee of the Salgótarjáni Kőszénbánya Rt. He settled in Várpalota in 1920. From a young age, he showed interest in biological and archaeological sciences. In the summer of 1900, he conducted entomological and archaeological research on the island of Cyprus, and between 1901 and 1906, he conducted entomological research in the vicinity of Bratislava. In Petrozsény, he processed the fossil fauna of the coal basin, and as secretary of the MKE, he carried out archaeological excavations. As a colleague of Dezső Laczkó, he contributed to the excavation of the Roman ruins of the Baláca-puszta. In 1924, when the Szabó sand mine was opened, he discovered its special values, drew attention to the valuable fossil remains, and urged their scientific investigation. (This sand mine has been a protected area since 1954.) He is credited with collecting the material that forms the basis of the butterfly collection of the Dezső Laczkó Museum in Veszprém. He was the first to prove the presence of the Szíká white butterfly (Pieris ergane) and the Dolomite sulphur butterfly (Colias chrysotheme) in the Bakony.
