* Rimaszombat, March 29, 1887 – † Sarajevo, August 17, 1930 / zoologist, entomologist, museologist ; ; also published under the name József Bolhay. He completed his elementary and high school studies in his hometown. He obtained a natural history teaching certificate and a doctorate in 1909 from the University of Budapest. In 1909–1911 he was an intern at the zoological museum of the Hungarian National Museum, and between 1912–1914 he was an assistant professor at the teacher training college. From the end of 1917 to 1919 he worked as an assistant at the Institut für Balkanforschung in Budapest. In 1919, at the request of the Yugoslav government, he accepted the position of keeper of the vertebrate collection of the Sarajevo Museum. He primarily studied reptiles, amphibians, and beetles. He also conducted paleontological research.
