Abraham Bodon

* Gömörmihályfalva, 1810 – † Rimaszombat, January 31, 1871 / lawyer, landowner, member of parliament, writer on church history ; ; He studied law in Sárospatak and Losonc, although he originally wanted to be an engineer. In 1839 he took the bar exam, in 1840 he was present at the Bratislava parliament, where he became friends with Lajos Kossuth and when Kossuth was imprisoned he edited the Parliamentary Reports. Between 1842 and 1847 he was the deputy prosecutor of Gömör and Kis-Hont counties, and in 1848 he was a member of parliament. In the meantime he regularly reported for the Pesti Hírlap. During the Bach era, he farmed on his estate in Mihályfalva and, with his brother Antal Bodon, founded a granary association and wrote agricultural textbooks for the villagers. In 1861, he became attorney general and again a member of parliament. He carried on a lively correspondence with the poet János Erdélyi and the Reformed priest Sámuel Szentpétery of Pelsőc.
