Bodok folk costume

The Bodok folk costume belongs to the southeastern part of the Zoboralj costume. Women's hairstyles were characteristic: a bun on weekdays, a bun on holidays, and the bride's headdress was the párta. The old deer or Hungarian bun was gradually replaced by the tótkonty adopted from neighboring Slovak villages. Several types of linen or gyolcsing were distinguished, e.g. linen, bablonyos or frilled shirts. The shirt shoulders and sleeves were usually woven with a blue base or had thread-drawn and cutwork decoration, and lace was beaten at the ends of the sleeves. The women's vest was worn over the shirt, which was called pruszlik throughout Zoboralj, except for Bodok, where it was called "ubbony". There were several types, e.g. single-back, double-back, győrögyi, füles. The petticoats were worn over the pandő, and then the overskirt. So-called farts were made to widen the hips. An apron, a so-called dress, was worn in front of the skirt (types: gyócs-, tirangli-, pestő-, glottruha). In cold weather, a warm kacabajká or so-called vizitke was worn over the upper part of the garment. They also wore a headscarf, and on weekdays they wore slippers, and on holidays they wore boots. Men's clothing was simpler, on weekdays they wore linen trousers, which could be worn with an apron, or a linen shirt. Festive clothing was gyócsing, lajbi, pants (pun pants or pleated pants), and in cold weather a short or long coat. Today, the folk costume is mainly worn by women, but only on special occasions, e.g. at performances by folklore groups, festive events (cultural events, special church ceremonies, etc.), the elderly wear the simpler dark version of the old age every Sunday. The wearing of traditional men's clothing was revived by a group of younger people in 2018, and the most important parts were made locally (Alfrédné Nagy Erzsébet Gyepes).
