Bodok wedding

The most traditional moment of human life. It was preceded by the proposal of a bride, the making of a bouquet (from wintergreen collected in the Forbidden Forest), the making and stuffing of kelengye, primarily dunnák, etc. In the past, the wedding was on a Tuesday, so that “the bride would be nicer”. The best man led the procession, the so-called dorozsba. Relatives also contributed to the abundance of food and cakes, which were carried together in a so-called lagzis sheet or pocitáskas. The wedding was in the church, and then the two families celebrated in two places. This was followed by another, humorous proposal of a bride at the bride’s house. Finally, the bride said goodbye to her parents, and her song has survived to this day (Ilona Holec often sings the sad song beginning “Ídesanyám rámvirradt jár az a nap …” at folklore events). The rest of the evening was celebrated together by the two relatives. There were humorous poems for serving each dish (for soup, horseradish meat, wine, etc.), the description and text of which have survived. The main course of the dinner was the so-called liver soup. Special moments were the miller's kiss, the singing of the "Canai wedding", the collection of "kásapíz" for the cooks, but the most characteristic was the almost endless series of humorous quarrels spread throughout Zoborala. At midnight, the bride's veil was taken off and replaced with a bridal headscarf. The bride's dunná and other gifts were only taken to the couple's house after the lagzi (with the characteristic song: Dunna, dunna, cifra dunna ...). The wedding in Alóbodok was also immortalized by Slovak television in the seventies of the 20th century.
