Zsigmond Bódók

* Komárom, 22 May 1957 – † Dunaszerdahely, 26 July 2010 / astrophysicist, ; science and technology history writer ; ; He completed his primary and secondary school education in Nagymegyer, graduating in 1976. Between 1976 and 1989, he headed the Astronomy Cabinet of the Dunaszerdahely Municipal Cultural Center, while studying at the Charles University in Prague (1979–1981), and finally obtained a physics degree from the Komenský University in Bratislava (1984). From 1990, he was an external employee of the SZTA and an entrepreneur. He played an important role in starting the Hungarian amateur astronomy movement in southern Slovakia, especially in Csallóköz, and founded the Trifid Amateur Astronomy Association (today: Corvus Astronomy Association). He founded astronomy clubs in several elementary schools, and in the 1980s he organized summer astronomy observation camps for primary and secondary school students in Ógyallá and then in Csicsón. He primarily engaged in asteroid research, discovered several asteroids, one of which was later named after Ármin Vámbéry at his suggestion. He regularly photographed celestial objects and organized numerous exhibitions of his photographs. He published popular science and technology history and astronomy articles and books. He launched a book series entitled Magyar Talentum at the Nap Publishing House in Dunaszerdahely. During the change of regime in 1989, he was active in public life, and later published critical journalistic writings in the columns of Csallóköz and on various internet portals.
