May. 15. / Benedictine monk, publicist, newspaper editor, textbook writer ; ; He completed his theological studies in Pannonhalma, and also obtained a Hungarian-Latin teacher's qualification. In the two decades after the 1918 revolution, he was a teacher at the Benedictine high school in Komárom, one of the main organizers and leaders of Hungarian scouting in Slovakia, and the editor of the scout and student newspaper Tábortűz. He also edited Catholic church newspapers (Szűz Mária Új Virágos Kertje, the Bulletin of the Komárom Roman Catholic Autonomous Community). He was the director of the Pápa gymnasium in 1939–1944, the director of the Komárom gymnasium in 1944–1945, and the head of the monastery there until 1949. He was one of the breakers of the enforced silence of the disenfranchised Hungarians: in 1947 he published a prayer book entitled Miatyánk and a Catholic calendar for 1948. In 1949, he was interned in Northern Slovakia with his fellow monks, and there he worked as a respected pastor of the Slovak faithful. In 1960, he was able to return to Southern Slovakia and became the parish priest of Balony, Medve and Nyárad. During the events of 1968, he actively participated in the priestly movement fighting for church autonomy. He was retired in 1970, and since then he has lived in Komárom and worked as an auxiliary pastor.
