* Bratislava, July 15, 1888 – † Tegernsee/Bajora, June 1945 / chemical engineer, microbiologist, enzymologist, university professor ; ; He obtained a degree in chemical engineering from the Budapest University of Technology in 1912. He was then an assistant professor at the university's Department of Agricultural Chemical Technology, and from 1916 an assistant professor. He received his doctorate in 1918. From 1923 he was a private university teacher of mycological examinations used in the fermentation industry, and from 1935 an extraordinary university professor. In 1925–1926 he was a visiting researcher in Berlin, where he examined the intermediate products of various fermentations, and summarized his experiences in numerous articles published in Berlin. He worked in Budapest for more than 20 years alongside Sigmond Elek, after whose death he became an extraordinary professor and a full professor in 1941. He is credited with modernizing the department and preparing it for increased microbiological teaching and research. In 1944, he had a shelter built where the department's valuable instruments were placed, and in December of that year he traveled to Germany as an escort for university students who had settled in the West, where he died. He was a researcher of the mechanism of fermentation and dealt with the microbiological production of sorbose, the raw material for vitamin C. He managed to produce an acetobacter strain with excellent oxidizing ability in pure culture. He was a collaborator on the book Agricultural Chemical Technology (Budapest, 1919, 1923) written by Sigmond Elek. university notes, and in 1942–1944 he was co-editor of the Hungarian Chemical Journal. ; ; His main works: ; Technical mycology, 1942, ; Agricultural chemical technology, 1942, ; Sugar factory procedures, 1944.
