* Košice, 25 November 1875 – † Budapest, 10 September 1923. biologist, graphic artist, agronomist, insect illustrator; ; nephew of the painter Gyula Benczúr. He graduated from the Institute of Economics in Košice in 1895. After that, he studied veterinary medicine in Budapest and at the Academy of Economics in Magyaróvár in parallel. Between 1898 and 1904, he was an assistant professor of economics, then an assistant professor at the Academy of Economics in Magyaróvár. He dealt with zoology, horticulture and viticulture at the department of Gyula Mezey. From 1904, he was a colleague of the Hungarian Entomological Station in Budapest, and from 1919, he was its director. His articles and drawings were mostly published in the Kísérletügyi Közlemények and Köztelek, but he also illustrated specialist books. He was one of the most significant Hungarian insect illustrators. His talent for drawing was already evident during his years in Magyaróvár, where he made numerous caricatures. He was buried in the Farkasrét cemetery, but his tombstone has since been removed.
