* Rimaszombat, October 26, 1824 – † Budapest, October 11, 1899 / high school teacher, specialist writer, church historian, editor ; ; Sámuel Batizfalvy's brother. He completed his secondary education at the high schools of Osgyán and Rozsnyó. He then attended a liberal arts and theology course in Késmárk and Szarvas (1842–1845), and law in Sárospatak (1845–1847). He actively participated in the Hungarian War of Independence of 1848/49, and laid down his arms with the rank of first lieutenant. During the years of repression, he was first an educator and then a teacher in Rozsnyó, teaching Hungarian language, history and geography at the Evangelical High School. From 1860, he taught at the Evangelical High School in Pest-Buda. He wrote pedagogical works and textbooks, which went through several editions.
