* Felsőzsember, October 16, 1865 – † Bánkútpuszta, June 3, 1938 / plant breeder, agricultural specialist ; ; He completed his elementary school in Körmöcbánya and his secondary school studies at the Nagyszombat High School. In 1884, he enrolled at the Royal Hungarian Academy of Agriculture in Magyaróvár and, under the influence of his dear teacher, Sándor Cserháti (1852–1909) – who was a professor of plant production – he embarked on a career as a plant breeder. From 1887, he was an assistant officer on various estates of Archduke Joseph (Alcsút, Gyapjú), and then in 1895 he moved to Bánkút, where he worked until the end of his life. In addition to his duties as an agricultural officer, he primarily dealt with the breeding of various useful plants. He is considered the father of the world-famous Bánkút wheat varieties, which combined the characteristics of the best Hungarian and American varieties. In addition to wheat, he also worked on the breeding of other plants (sorghum, oats, castor oil, cotton).
