Mátyóc, August 10, 1841 – † Budapest, December 7, 1915 / railway construction engineer, sports manager ; ; He completed his secondary school studies in Ungvár, graduated in 1859, and obtained an engineering diploma from the Pest Technical University in 1863. He began his practical work at the Kassa–Oderbergi97 Railway, then entered the service of MÁV. From 1872 he was the deputy head of the railway construction inspectorate, from 1884 he was the deputy director of the construction and mechanical engineering department of MÁV, from 1890 he was the director of the independent mechanical engineering department, and later the organizer and director of our first technical museum, the Museum of Transport. Several innovations in railway signaling equipment and railway lighting (e.g. electric remote railway signals) are associated with his name. For his merits in the field of transport development, he was knighted and received numerous awards. In 1903–1906, he was the president of the Hungarian Football Association. He made significant contributions in organizing the drainage of the wet, reedy areas of his native village and the surrounding settlements, for which he founded a drainage association in 1886.
