* Budapest, 13 Jan. 1897 – † concentration camp, 1945. ? / writer, physician ; ; He completed his university studies in Prague, Vienna and Berlin. He practiced medicine in Košice and also published articles on neurology. He was sporadically involved in fiction, although he also wrote under the pseudonym Pál Vándor. His only novel made him famous, winning one of the novel prizes in the 75,000 crowns literary competition of 1931 initiated by the Kazinczy Society and the PMH. The work contains many autobiographical elements. The protagonist, Dr. Deutsch-Darvas, studies abroad like the author during the numerus clausus in Mo., and the Slovakian city (Várad), where he became a hospital doctor, strongly reminds him of Košice. One of the novel's thematic interesting features is that most of its plot; – similar to Viktor Egri's Felkél a napjaň, Piroska Szenes's Egyszer élünkje and Katalin Sáfár's Nem történet semmi – takes place in a Jewish intellectual environment, and also provides a picture of traditional Jewish social conventions. Its structure and style are good, but the development of the ending is hasty and sketchy. ; ; Works: M.U.Dr Darvas, Kassa 1931. ;
