István Pál of Bácsmegyei

* Trenčín, 1689 – † Nagyszombat, April 30, 1735 / physician, specialist writer ; ; He studied in Bratislava, Rožňová, and Prešov, began his medical studies in Danzig, continued in Wittenberg, and completed them in Jena, where he was ordained a doctor of medicine in 1710. Upon his return home, he was the regular physician of Gömör County, and from 1720 a field physician. He renounced his Protestant religion and became a Catholic, and then for two years was the court physician of Cardinal Imre Csáky, Archbishop of Kalocsa, and later the physician of the Esztergom Grand Chapter. He died as a result of an alchemical experiment. In addition to medicine, he was involved in mathematics and alchemy. He was one of the most well-known practicing physicians of his time. He also wrote meteorological articles and crop reports, and after his conversion to Catholicism, he published a polemic against the Protestants entitled Otia Báchmegyeiana (Tyrnaviae, 1733), which also includes his autobiography. ; ; His main works: ; Observationes de morbo csömör Hungariae endentio, 1717.
