The ferryman was a person working in the service of crossing small ships, ferries, that regularly travel between the two banks at certain points of the rivers, usually the responsible ferryman. ; Antal Kovács (1902-1983), originally from Deáki, married Szenc. The family had 6 children – 2 boys and 4 girls. ; Before becoming a ferryman, he carried butcher's goods in a horse-drawn carriage around the area. At his wife's request, they built their house next to the Little Danube, where his daughter Valéria still lives with her family. He was widowed early, and his two daughters were still very young. ; A bell was installed on both banks of the Little Danube, which had to be rung if someone wanted to cross to the other bank. ; Uncle Anti liked to wander around, sometimes he even went to a pub, then the two younger girls pulled the ferry across to the other side. In addition to their pay, they even received candy from the passengers. ; The school group in the picture crossed the Little Danube by ferry in 1954.
