On September 1, 1957, the city's first high school, the then Nagymegyer Eleven-Year High School, opened in Nagymegyer. The school started with two classes. The first 63 students came from schools in Nagymegyer and the surrounding villages. The school's first full-time students graduated in the 1959/60 school year. They were the ones who established the student traditions that are still maintained today, the prom, the graduation, and the student ball, at the school. In the photo in 1960, we see the first graduates in the city, with director István Jakab and part of the teaching staff.
