The lower Ordódy mansion in Ógyalla-Bagota

Other - other

At the beginning of the 19th century, VI. Antal Ordódy built a house with a probably double division with an open pillared hall, which could be described as a spectacular peasant house. Around the middle of the 19th century, Vince Ordódy had the representative wing of the building rebuilt and expanded. The new wing was probably also double division with several gentlemen's rooms. The English park probably began to take shape at this time. The next modifications were initiated by VI. Pál Ordódy in 1891, when the building was completely rebuilt. The representative wing was extended and its southern side was expanded to three divisions. A main entrance with a columned vestibule was created on the shorter southern facade, with ramps for carriages. ; In the representative wing, parts of the supporting structures were removed and the interior height was raised to the current level. The facade of the entire wing was given an eclectic style with patterns inspired by the French and Italian Renaissance. The roof of the main wing was supplemented with ventilation openings and chimneys ending in heads. During the reconstruction, in addition to the stucco decoration, the building also received a valuable wrought iron grille. ; The building retained the cassette doors decorated with metal fittings and other quality joinery. Decorative stencil decoration remained under the paint layer on the ceiling. A noteworthy architectural solution is the wooden barrel vault, which is located in the corridor of the representative wing. The living quarters also included a hygiene block, which was supplied with water from water storage containers placed in the attic. After 1926, the mansion was only inhabited seasonally. After World War II, it was used for school purposes. ; A complex reconstruction took place between 1969 and 1971, when the building was adapted to the needs of the school and kindergarten. Due to the design of the new classrooms, the representative wing was radically modified, as the walls were cut through. The window openings were enlarged, and new rooms and a caretaker's apartment were built at the end of the economic wing. The roof was replaced on this wing. After the school facility was closed, the building is awaiting a complete renovation with monument requirements. ; Given the monument values of the former noble mansion, a partial stylistic renovation is proposed for its restoration, which would restore the uniform character that it acquired when it was completely converted into an eclectic one at the end of the 19th century. The representative wing can be renovated based on contemporary photographic material, remaining stucco decoration and excavations of the sections. The value of the interior spaces would be significantly increased by introducing the ceiling stencil decorations of the western wing and the vault of the central tract. ; The rehabilitation of the measures relating to the representative wing would also significantly contribute to the strengthening of the monument values. In the case of the north wing, the historical values have already been radically reduced in the past. For this reason, its distribution has changed significantly, which can be adapted to the future function of the building. The external appearance of this wing should be subject to the idea of stylistic reconstruction, for which the upper Ordódy mansion can be used as a model. The northern risalit can be dismantled, or preserved in justified cases, but its appearance will be different compared to the north wing. The exterior color of the building will be monochrome green.
