"...you can't live with such dirty windows. They have to be washed." – he says, and since window washing is a gift from the company, he does it all so freely and honestly. And then chaos breaks out. Everything that seemed certain until now loses its validity, everything that was valuable turns into a joke – because the window washer not only frees Tomi and Anni from dirty windows. Miklós Mészöly's brilliant drama, due to its strong criticism of the conditions of the past regime, was only able to be staged long after it was written (1957), but even then it did not escape adversity and censorship.
