* Prešov, 1895. Sept. 9. – † ibid., 1984. Jan. 25. / poet, prose and playwright ; ; He came from a gentry family in Sáros, and took his literary name from the village of Ásgúth in their first name. He graduated from a teacher training college. In the years following the 1918 coup d'état, he actively participated in the Hungarian cultural life of Prešov, reorganized by the priest Viktor Fábry: as a prima donna of amateur theatrical performances and as a reciter, he was often praised in the PMH, and when he began to publish, his name was already known throughout Slovakia. His writings were also well received in the press of Mo. and Transylvania. During the Slovak state, he was the eastern Slovak editor of the Hungarian People's Newspaper in Poznań, and together with István Dallos he attempted to establish an organization uniting writers, the Slovak Hungarian Literary Guild. After 1945, as a political prisoner, he was unable to publish for a long time, and even then only very sporadically. One of his short stories was included in the anthologies Slovak Hungarian Narrators and Heritage, and 10 of his poems and 6 short stories were included in the anthology Ének az éjben, published after his death. ; – In his poetry, the family and national-community poems (Add tával a lángot, Tarcapart) show the influence of traditional idealistic realism, while the love and religious poems were also influenced by impressionism and symbolism. The four main themes of his short stories are: the decline of the gentry, the world of the petty bourgeoisie, the life of the destitute, the fate of prominent figures of the historical and literary past. His dramas are among the better works of the poor-average Hungarian drama writing in Czechoslovakia. His two plays, written together with Miklós Simor of Mo. (Talán, Gázmérgezés a Domb utcaban) , were presented by the theater companies of Szeged, Győr and Debrecen in 1936–1938. Among his independently written dramas, Episode deserves attention. He was also active in children's literature, and as a reporter he published valuable writings about the narrowed Hungarian life of the Upper Tarca region during the Slovak state. ; ; Works: Now I dance on the rope..., v., Bp. 1935, Don't ask..., v., Eperjes 1941, I never had a mother, elb., Po. 1942, The empty cradle, tales, Bp. 1943. ; ; Literature: Zoltán Egyed: Premier in Győr, Hungary 1936.
