In 1854, the Frenchman Disdéri patented the photographic equivalent of one of the indispensable tools of social relations - the name card - the photographic visiting card (visit portrait). The size of this business card-sized image was typically 5.4x9.2 cm, which was glued to a 6.3x10.5 cm cardboard. In the early 1870s, the so-called cabinet picture began to gain ground and spread, which was enlarged to a size of 10.5x17 cm, and in terms of its function, it was more likely to be used in family albums, but in a framed version it was also used as a room decoration.
