Coat of arms of the village of Alsóbodok

The symbols of the village represent identity and adherence to traditional values. The oldest known dry seal impression with a coat of arms from Alsóbodok, pressed into wax, dates from the late 18th century, and was preserved on the documents of the Maria Theresa-style land tenure system. Its circular inscription: Sigillum possesionis Bodok 1771, i.e. the seal of the Bodok village 1771. This seal also depicts Saint John the Baptist, who was (and still is) the patron saint of the local church and thus of the village community. The 19th-century wet seal also depicts the same figure (known from 1866 about a “fraternal unity”). Later standardized seals already lacked the figure of the saint. The current municipal coat of arms was designed in 1997 by the Signum organization and was based on the first known seal. The Heraldic Commission of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic notified the municipality of the adoption of the symbols on 27 January 1997 (HR 10/D-74/97). On the coat of arms, on a green shield, in a silver river, Saint John the Baptist stands on his left foot in a silver robe, leaning on a golden cross, holding a golden vessel with his right hand, to which a silver dove flies, in front of him in the water stands a golden lamb with silver legs and face. The flag is green-yellow-white-green striped, the seal of the municipality shows the above-mentioned coat of arms with a circular inscription of the name of the municipality in Slovak. The symbols were consecrated in the summer of 1997. On the 770th anniversary of the first mention of the village, in 1998, a local entrepreneur, Paulisz Boldizsár, created two artificial stone reliefs with the village coat of arms, one of which was placed in front of the village office, the other in the private area of a cultural park (Paulisz Rancs). Twenty years later, at the initiative of Mayor Marián Paulisz, another coat of arms, carved into thick wood, was placed in the garden of the village office. It was created by Peter Šranko, a master craftsman from Nagylapás, and it was blessed by the local parish priest, Father Bálint Licskó, on the 990th anniversary of the village's foundation. Today, the village uses the coat of arms proudly, and it is always displayed together with the village flag at important celebrations.
