Gyula Alapy

* Komárom, October 20, 1872 – † Komárom, January 20, 1936 / newspaper editor, historian, archivist, politician, museum director ; ; He began his high school studies in his hometown and completed them in Esztergom. In 1895 he obtained a degree in law from the University of Budapest. From 1892 to 1898 he was an official of the Ministry of Agriculture. From 1898 he lived in Komárom. Between 1903 and 1921 he was the archivist of Komárom and Komárom County. He took an active role in the work of the Komárom Museum Association and the Jókai Association. After the change of empire in 1918, he became increasingly involved in minority political life, and was even a provincial representative for years. His scientific work was primarily related to museology. He also carried out archaeological excavations in some settlements in the Csallóköz region (Alsógellér, Hetény, Megyercs, Komárom), as well as in Szímő. As an archivist, he primarily conducted genealogical and heraldic research. ; He was one of the authors of the large-scale, but ultimately unfinished work, the first volume of which was published under the title A-C of the Coat of Arms of Hungary in 1913.
