Zoltán Agócs

* Fülek, April 24, 1938 – † February 14, 2018 Szenc / civil engineer, university professor ; ; He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown (graduation: 1957). He obtained his engineering degree from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava in 1962 and has been a lecturer at the university since then (1982: associate professor, 1990: university professor and deputy dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, 1994–2000: head of department professor). His research area is the architectural application of steel structures. He primarily deals with the design and construction of bridges, but he also managed the creation of numerous steel-structured buildings or participated in their implementation. He is credited with designing the steel structure of the Apollo Bridge in Bratislava. He has also contributed to the work of several foreign projects. He was one of the initiators and participants in the reconstruction of the Mária Valéria Bridge connecting Párkány with Esztergom (2001). He was the first Hungarian presenter in Slovakia for the University of Omniscience program of Hungarian Television (2005). In his free time, he was also involved in pigeon breeding. He is a member of several professional and scientific societies, and since 1998 he has been an honorary professor at the Technical University of Timisoara. He has also been a guest lecturer at several foreign universities. Awards and honors: Jedlik Ányos Award of the Szímő Municipality (2000), Ľudovít Štúr State Award, III degree, Hungarian Art Award (2002), Saint Gorazd Nagy Memorial Plaque (2003).
