* Borcsány, July 30, 1862 – † Bratislava, June 26, 1901 / geologist, academic teacher ; ; He was the scion of a wealthy mining family in Trenčín County. He completed his elementary and secondary school education in Nyíregyháza, Bratislava and Nagyszombat, then graduated from the Körmöcbánya General Secondary School and became a student at the Selmecbánya Mining and Forestry Academy, where he obtained a mining engineering diploma in 1886. He began his career as a mining apprentice in Körmöcbánya, then continued in Nagyszombat. After that, he became an employee of the metal marking and metal exchange office in Budapest. From 1892, he was appointed temporary and then full professor of the Department of Mineralogy, Geology and Paleontology of the Selmecbánya Academy. In December 1893, he became a geologist at the Royal Geological Institute in Budapest. In the last years of his life, he struggled with a serious illness, and at the end of 1900 he moved to his relatives in Bratislava and died there at the age of barely 39. As a geologist, he primarily researched in the Banat, in the Krasnodar–Szörény county. He examined and mapped the geological structure of the mountains there. Another important area of his scientific interest was Zemplén and Sáros counties, where he also searched for oil deposits.
