In the past, a friend or relative of the family took on this honorable role. Moreover, it was not uncommon for not one, but several best men to be invited to the wedding. The best man's duties included first asking the bride's parents to marry her for her future husband at the "bride's" house. Then he had her say goodbye to the family members (father, mother, brother, grandfather, best man). All this with old rhymes. ; At the wedding, before the various courses, he entertained the already hungry wedding party with a short poem. He also played funny games with the guests and the young couple. Usually at midnight, the bridal dance followed. Then the young couple received their gifts from the wedding party, which was also led by the best man.
