The teaching staff of St. Elzeár School in the thirties

The church school established in 1902, the so-called Zárda School, was founded by Countess Adél Kálnoky. Even after World War I, the so-called Zárda School was run by the Saint Elzár Roman Catholic Girls' School in Nagymegyer, the Sisters of Mercy named after Saint Vincent de Paul. The school's principal was Sister Palmira Schramil. The other members of the teaching staff were: Sister Lujza Bujna, Teacher Hedvig Bukovy, Teacher Erzsébet Zálezsák. Everyday teaching took place in two of the school's three classrooms. The third classroom was set up for needlework teaching. The number of students at the school was between 185 and 209 between the 1923/24 and 1938/39 school years. In the photo taken in the thirties, the parish priest of Nagymegyer, József Marczy, can be seen in the middle of the first row. Sister Palmira Schramil, the principal, is seen on the left side of the picture in the front row.
