Vága, late 1940s; On the old ferry, from left to right: Edit Józsa (Hasákné), Erzsébet Beranek, Erzsébet Józsa. ; The last village operator of the ferry was József Puczoló. ; In the first half of the 20th century, one of the biggest problems of the Vága farmers was working the approximately 400 cadastral acres of wooded pasture on the left bank of the Vága, and transporting the crop home. The only way to get there was by a detour, via Szered. After March 14, 1939, the best quality “Bereg” in the Soporny area did not come to Hungary. Since Szered and “Bereg” were on the other side of the country, the Nyitra and Bratislava county authorities approved in 1940 the interest-free loan of 7,000 pengós from the former Vága landlord farmers’ association for the construction of a ferry.
