The Kulcsod Peasant Band (Gypsy Band)
Other - other
Hungarian songs are among our old “treasures”. We have been expressing our joy, sorrow, and feelings to ourselves and others with these songs for centuries. Every Hungarian has a favorite song that they can sing in company, or even alone. Perhaps just when they are in a dispute or anger with the whole world, or when they would like to embrace everyone around them in joy. The Hungarian song is one of the most precious and valuable treasures, an ancient heritage, of our nation’s culture. It connects us with our ancestors, our departed loved ones, who centuries ago or even recently hummed and sang the same melodies in their homes. Our dear grandfathers and grandmothers, who lovingly passed on their favorites to their grandchildren. We hope that they will continue to be passed down in this way – spread from mouth to mouth – to the next generations. Because rejoicing and singing is always a heart-warming experience. And the person who sings has a “free soul.” ; ; In my native village of Kulcsodon, according to the stories of those who still remember, there have always been people who loved music, dancing and having fun. The more talented ones learned to play instruments out of self-effort, they did this first for their own pleasure, and later for the entertainment of others. This is perhaps the last opportunity to commemorate the formation and long-term operation of the Kulcsodon gypsy band. In fact, it is nostalgia for youth, for the native village, for old customs, and an acknowledgement of the relentless passing of time. László Bölcskei and Sándor Gaál, engineer, were members of the band that gave so much joy, happiness, pleasant experiences and memories to the people living at that time. I managed to put the story down on paper primarily based on their stories, but I was helped by family members, friends, villagers and representatives of the youth of that time who were still alive. Because they also remember this time very fondly, and they love Hungarian songs very, very much. Because these songs are all around us, they unite us, they create unity among us, who otherwise can agree on so few things. These worthy people, who will be discussed further, have left us an immortal oeuvre.
