Heroic soldier of the war

Dezső Bartos (1896-1981) and his wife Bartosné, née Jusztinia Bedecs (1900-1983) with their family: Borbála (1927-2009), my mother, Jusztinia (1921-2008) and Zoltán (1925-1968). Before the war, between September 21, 1914 and June 4, 1915, he worked as a factory worker-heater in the Dögös distillery. In 1915, he enlisted as a soldier and fought on the Italian fronts of World War I: he was there in the Isonzo battles, he experienced the hell of Doberdó and then the Piave. He was wounded twice, and his courage was rewarded with several decorations. Dec. 1915 He was sent to the Italian front on the 20th, where on April 14, 1916, he participated in the undermining of Italian positions and showed such death-defying courage that the battalion managed to break through and take many prisoners. ; His decorations: Large Silver Medal of Valor, Bronze Medal of Valor, Wound Medal, Charles Troop Cross, War Memorial Medal. Despite all this, in 1947 he was also deported to the Czech Republic for labor service. His only crime was that he was Hungarian.
