The most famous tree in Hetény is the small-leaved lime tree in front of our church, which was planted in 1896 for the 1000th anniversary of the conquest of Hungary. This is evidenced by the minutes of the Reformed Church, in which the then Reformed pastor Lajos Kovács recorded the event, as well as the presidential decree that explains why the people of Hetény planted a lime tree for the anniversary. The decree specified that students should plant the tree next to a church or school, and that they should choose a tree that is native and long-lived, so that it would proclaim the memory of the anniversary for a long time. ; In 2000, Ernő Zajos, historian, and József Nagy, retired school principal, measured the data of the tree, which were then the following: ; tree height – 16 m ; trunk circumference above the ground - 2.5 m ; trunk circumference at branching - 3.2 m; canopy diameter - 12 m; canopy circumference - 38 m
