Zichy Obelisk

The owner and most important owner of Oroszvár between 1646 and 1872 was the Zichy family. In the center of the town, on the small square next to the main road, in the park, stands a simple but beautifully designed obelisk. The pedestal is decorated with the Zichy coat of arms. On the spire, under the stone vase, the inscription "ZICHI A.D. 1776" can be read. ; The owner of Oroszvár at this time was Zichy (IV.) Ferenc (1749-1812). The erection of the column may be connected with his name.
