Mary's Grotto in front of Zatyko House

Sacral small monument

The Mary Cave in front of the Zatyko House (No. 136) is a column-like creation, built in the 1970s, commissioned by Mária Nemcsok, Ferenc Zatyko and his wife. The small sacred monument, built of brick, stands on a concrete foundation. Its two upper sides are painted yellow. The front has a semicircular arch, with a glazed wooden door frame in the semicircular arch. The rectangular structure is also equipped with a semicircular zinc lid, with a yellow iron cross in the middle. The cave recess is paved with small pebbles, and the wall sections around the outer door frame of the upper part of the structure are also of the same design. The Virgin Mary stands in the cave recess with the Infant Jesus. Mary is seen in a white veil, a long blue cloak with gold trim, with the Infant Jesus on her left arm. The Infant Jesus is holding a blue orb in his left hand. In front of them are two kneeling winged angels in long blue robes. One has his hands clasped in prayer, the other held crosswise over his heart. On the angels' heads is a white headband decorated with a cross.
