Red Circle
Sacral small monument
This is the oldest public sacral monument still standing in Csallóközcsütört. It once stood at the upper end of the village. When the new street was built in the mid-19th century, it was brought closer to the road and surrounded by an iron grate. It can still be seen today. The corpus of the cross, the body, is in Baroque design, and on the upper arm of the cross the inscription INRI (Jesus Nazareti Rex Judeorum) is on a separate plate, thus attached to the cross. Below the corpus, a statue of the sorrowful Virgin Mary, also in Baroque design, can be seen. On the pedestal, S.M. (Mihály Sill) and the year 1799 (the year of erection) can be read. Both the cross and the statues were sometimes painted red, hence the popular name Vörösköröszt. Flowers are placed at the pedestal of the cross at Easter and on All Saints' Day.
