Vécsey Castle
A Renaissance-style castle was built in the early 18th century on the site of a previously demolished castle (in 1670). The castle was built, inhabited and owned by the Vécsey family until 1945. In the mid-19th century, it was rebuilt in the classicist style. Several renovations took place in the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
In 1824, the young Kossuth Lajos worked in the village as a legal advisor to Baron Pál Vécsey. The baron and his young wife recognized Kossuth's exceptional talent and supported him. On the commission of Pál Vécsey, he became a delegate to the Bratislava Parliament in 1832 as an "ambassador of the absent".
Today, the building houses the local government, a local history museum, civil organizations and social events.
