The tomb of Antal János Valesius

Valesius Antal János (1666-1758), deacon of the Reformed diocese of Komárom, the first bishop of the Czech Protestants in Hungary. Since 1712, he had been active as a Reformed pastor in several places (Rétén, Ekelen, Csallóközaranyos, Nemesócsa). He educated young people in Debrecen and ordained them as priests after their studies. He was imprisoned in the Komárom fortress on September 20, 1740, for using the episcopal title. He was released in 1741 by decree of Maria Theresa. From March 12, 1745 to March 12, 1754, he was a Reformed pastor in Nagykeszi. He then retired and died there on October 2, 1758. His wife, Erzsébet Kiss, was probably from Nagykeszi.
