Tomb of Mary Urge

Mária Ürge, teacher, folk educator (1952 – 1991) ; ; Founding member and organizer of the Csalló Folk Art Ensemble, leader of the Híd Choir and director of the Csali children's dance ensemble. She has made invaluable contributions to the preservation and development of the folk art of the town of Somorja. She is a member of the Somorja leadership of the Csemadok and the Ethnographic Society of the Central Committee of the Csemadok. She completed elementary school and high school in Somorja, and then obtained a pedagogical diploma in Nyitra. She was a teacher at the Nagylég elementary school until her early death. She carried out successful ethnographic and folk music collections in Csallóköz, Transylvania, Gömör, and especially in the Zobor region. She is the co-author of several textbooks dealing with music education. Mária Ürge – Hugi, with the enthusiasm inherited from her parents, did her sacrificial work for the preservation and development of the traditions of the town of Somorja. ; Her collections were selected and edited by Lujza Tari and published in 2004 under the title In front of the Kolony Church (Selections from the Folk Music Collection of Mária Ürge).
