Firefighter's hook

Firefighting organization

“First of all, we would like to thank Vida Aranka for beautifully renovating the fire station and for supporting us to this day in whatever way she can. We also owe thanks to some private entrepreneurs in the village. Miklós Kósa and Pál Fehérváry, because they also support us with everything they can. I would say about the fire department that we are starting from a very difficult situation. Unfortunately, our technology is zero, because it has been stolen over the years. We received 1,500 euros in support from the village, which we are grateful for, but it is hardly enough for anything. The volunteer fire department can be in category a, b, c, or d. We currently belong to category d, and here too, according to the regulations, we have what equipment it should have. We need 6-7 medium-class hoses, which cost 70-80 euros each, we need at least 2 jet pipes, a suction hose, a suction basket, etc. There is one that is currently not operational. Our engine, I hope, will work after a little renovation, but that also costs money. We have plans, we would like to participate in firefighting competitions next year, but until then we still have a lot of work to do. We need to buy uniforms for the competitions, which cost about 250 euros each. And I haven't even mentioned the fire truck! And last but not least, we would like to thank some of our members who helped a lot with the start. By name: Gergő Csóka, Richárd Klánik, István Klánik, Dávid Zakál, Csaba Zakál, Attila Mikolai, Imre Szép and young László Csóka.” As you can read, there is fortunately no shortage of enthusiasm. However, more support would be needed. Please help if you can! So that we can celebrate the 150th anniversary of the existence of this long-standing organization in 2020! You can read about the Csicso Volunteer Fire Department in the second part of the Csicso Stories, and in the third part you will find pictures of the firefighters. On August 18, the renovated fire station was handed over in a ceremonial setting. The celebrants were greeted by the mayor and József Alföldi, a high-ranking firefighter from Komárom. The firefighters from Füss also honored us with their fire truck. A plaque was unveiled on the wall of the fire station: “The population of the village of Csicso thanks Vida Aranka, the owner of Vocatio sro., for her work and financial assistance, which she provided for the renovation of the fire station.” Sándor Vida read out the greetings of the elderly Dénes Bödők: “A sentence from Sándor Petőfi: «Rust is a thorn, it does not shine!» When I was 16, when I was a high school student, there was a subject: work education (polytechnic). We participated in repairing commercial machinery, carpentry, belt making and blacksmithing, shaping iron in a heated state. After two weeks, we had to submit our creative work from each profession. This pickaxe was made 58 years ago. Since the instructor said it was good enough, I didn't submit it, but kept it. I brought it home and we reshaped it with Uncle Lajos Vida. There were two of them. The short handle was used by sailors to pull watercraft ashore. I had already given that one away. The long handle is so long that the embers don't immediately touch the handle when putting out a fire, said the great firefighter, Uncle Lajos Vida. Why is it "rust eats away, it doesn't shine!"? I kept it as a relic for 58 long years and the rust ate into it. When the complete renovation of the fire station, I decided that it belongs in the station! There was a not very deep, laser-engraved inscription on it, which was eaten away by rust. I will have it renovated. It said: «The Cicssó fire station was renovated by his daughter, Aranka, in memory of her father, Lajos Vida!». The handle of the pickaxe was carved by Antal Ábrahám, a master potter. Please accept it with love: old Dénes Bödők.”
