Tomb of teacher János Túrós (Balogvölgy)

Cemeteries, tombstones, graves

János Túrós, as a Reformed cantor teacher, began teaching in the Reformed school in Uzapanyit (between 1932 and 1945). During the years of deprivation of rights, he was a shop assistant in the grocery store in Uzapanyit. In the meantime, he also performed church service: on Sundays, due to the lack of a pastor, he preached in the Reformed church. Between 1953 and 1957, he taught in Pelsőcén, and between 1957 and 1959, he served as director of the Hungarian-language Elementary School in Bátka. From 1959 until his retirement, he taught in the Auxiliary School in Rimaszombat. ; He was a part of many persecutions and interrogations because of his Hungarian, but despite this, he did not re-Slovakize. ; His wife was Aranka Bán (1915-1998), whose parents István Bán (1892-1940) and Piroska (1896-1966) are buried in the grave next to them.
